Daily Mass Guidelines and Reminders for Server
|
| |
- Remember only one server is needed at the 6:30am Mass. Please coordinate with your partner to
assure that at least one of you is there each day. One exception to this policy is any Holy Day of
Obligation (like Immaculate Conception, December 8), on Holy Days both weekday servers are
needed and are joined by a third.
ALTAR SERVER PRAYER (said before the start of each Mass) Heavenly Father, may I serve at your altar with reverence, attention, and love in order to draw others to do the same. Amen.
- Servers should share the Sign of Peace with the priest first (and the deacon if he is present), get the patens to assist in the distribution of the Eucharist and only then share a sign with each other and the other ministers of the Mass.
- Although only one server is needed for the 6:30am (weekday) it is OK for both to serve if the servers and their parents are able. Please coordinate with your assigned partner to assure that at least one of you is there each day.
- After each weekday Mass please remember to complete the following tasks unless father gives you different instructions
- Return to the sacristy all scared vessels from the credence table
- Return the Lectionary and Sacramentary to the sacristy
Extinguish the candles
using the snuffer
- Return the water and wine to the refrigerator in the sacristy
- Empty the bowl used for washing hands and return the bowl to the credence table
- PLEASE don’t forget that sneakers, gym shoes or other sports shoes are NOT proper for the altar. Please do not wear them when you are scheduled to serve.
- If you send a scheduling request and do not receive an acknowledgment
from us within one week then we probably did not receive your request.
We will accommodate any schedule requests received before the 10th of the preceding month. After that you will be resposible for finding a substitute. Please send a follow-up to stagnesaltarservers@yahoo.com or call us at 610-344-0354 with your request.
- Daily Mass Serving Guidelines and Reminders to Servers are now
posted on the parish website. Please
take a moment to review them before the next time you serve.
