Mission Statement

The St. Agnes Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) is the centerpiece of our youth ministry to parish children in grades 5 through 8.  Through spiritual, social, service and athletic programs our goal is to help our children develop their relationship with God and come to better understand themselves and the Catholic faith.  In partnership together, parents, priests, religious, teachers and volunteers provide a variety of programs that:

  • Assist parish leadership in nourishing the emotional, spiritual, social and physical needs of young people.
  • Encourage young people to appreciate the gifts they possess, and challenge them to share these gifts with their community.
  • Encourage youth to become responsible members in their faith community.
  • Employ a healthy and enjoyable competition within the sports programs to promote the sharing of gospel values among athletes, coaches and parents.
  • Allow youth to witness the life of Christian Discipleship in their adult leaders.

Welcome to CYO

We look forward to working with you and hope you take advantage of all the opportunities the program offers to strengthen your faith through prayer and service. We are pleased this year to be working under the leadership our new Youth minister Robert Gross.

You will soon have access to a complete set of guidelines that have been put forth by the board over the past year. These guidelines have been influenced by the practices that have been in place since CYO began here at St Agnes. With the growth of our program over the years, a document such as this has become necessary. Please look for the link on the CYO website. You too will have an opportunity to be a part of this organization so keep an eye out for elections which will be held in May 2008.

Our CYO programs are open to all students in grades 5-8 who are members of St. Agnes Parish and attend a Catholic School or participate in the CCD program.

For a list of CYO activities please see link to our calendar of events below.

Along with our Youth Minister ,we are fortunate the we have the support of so many caring adults, including our pastor Msgr. Deliman, school principal Sister Joan Felicia, directors  of religious education Mr. Ed Miller and Sister Bridget McCullough, our moderator, Father Cossavella, and many, many parent volunteers. These volunteers are critical to our success. We welcome assistance from any new parents. Please just call a Board Member in the area of your interests. Phone numbers are available at the rectory.

We’d also like to invite all friends of St. Agnes to our annual fundraiser, the CYO Beef and Beer which will be held in January. This event helps to raise money to support the programs that may not be able to bring in funds through snack bar revenues. While we certainly appreciate your financial support, the best part is sharing the fun, casual evening together!

Please feel free to contact any member of the CYO Board with any ideas or suggestions, or just to get involved.

Thank you for your support,
CYO Board  2007-2008
